SPRINGS HERE, TIME TO UNDRESS

March 26th, 2012 | By admin

What do you see when the first warm day comes? Girls in short-short shorts and practically nothing on top. Do you look in the mirror and say, “I look cute with so much skin showing.” Probably some do, but is it wise?

Forty-four per cent of rapes are under the age of eighteen, and eighty per cent are under thirty. What does that say to you? Does it have something to do with the way a younger person dresses or undresses? Girls, when a male sees you in less clothes, he thinks about you sexually. Is that what you want? When he does think of you sexually, he becomes obsessed with sex. You may well be the next victim of a rape. (more…)

GOD’S LITTLE SURPRISES

March 14th, 2012 | By admin

by Aunt Mary

Almost everyone likes a surprise. Whether it’s a birthday or anniversary, we like to be surprised. Surprises can be wonderful and they show love from those who love you. In the same light, God gives us surprises every day.

God made a beautiful world for us to live in, and He crammed it full of surprises. There is no way we can see everything on this earth in our lifetime, but it’s wonderful to be surprised by some things each day. If you travel much, you will be amazed at the lakes, mountains, and seasides. God made all of these for us to enjoy. (more…)

WHAT GOD HATES

March 12th, 2012 | By admin

We think of God as a God of love but forget that He hates sin. In Proverbs 6:16-19, Solomon gives us a list of seven things that God hates. “These six things the Lord hates, Yes seven are an abomination to Him. A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift to running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.”

That almost covers everything. We’ll see later some other things God hates. Let’s look at these seven right now. (more…)

FAITHFUL AND FEARFUL

March 9th, 2012 | By admin

Joshua was a faithful follower and a little fearful. He had big shoes to fill when Moses died. I’m sure he wondered if he was the man to fit them. Everyone has those fears, it’s normal. Joshua trusted in God and overcame his fear.

In Numbers 13, we read that God instructed Moses to select one man from each of the twelve tribes to spy out the land of Canaan. One of the men was Joshua, the son of Nun. When ten of the spies saw the giants, they became afraid. Joshua and Caleb were the exception. They knew with God’s help they could fight the people in Canaan and win. Because of Joshua and Caleb’s faithfulness, they were permitted to enter Canaan.

The children of Israel were led away by the other ten men, and they all died during their forty years of wandering. Joshua and Caleb stood up for what they saw, and their faith in God. They were permitted to enter the Land of Promise. This can be a s story for us today. We need to stand up for what we believe. What we have faith in.  (more…)

BOAZ WAS A GOOD CATCH

A husband like Boaz should be every girls dream. He was a catch and a half, and poor Ruth did not realize it. She knew he was wealthy and next of kin, but I wonder if she realized what a catch she was getting.

We read very little about Boaz, but we needed both him and Ruth. They are in the genealogy of Christ. He and Ruth are mentioned in Matthew 1:5. The real story begins in the book of Ruth.

The story has been told hundreds of times about Naomi and her husband Elimelech going to Moab because of a drought in their home city of Bethlehem. While in Moab, Elimelech dies and his sons marry Moabite women. One is Ruth. Naomi decides to return to Bethlehem, and Ruth refuses to leave her. She accompanies Naomi to her home city. (more…)

MY LIFE

“It’s my live,” you say. “I’ll do what I want.” How many times have we heard teens say that. “You can’t make me do anything.” How disrespectful and  rude! Your life is a gift from God. You have control over your actions, but you need to respect God and your parents.

I remember saying those same words when I was a teenager. I also remember the hurt look on my parents’ faces. They were so hurt by my actions. I would do anything I could to reverse those words now.

There is so much in the world to turn you from God. Your peers can encourage you to do things you would never have thought of before. Things you knew better than to do.  (more…)
