GOD’S LITTLE SURPRISES

Almost everyone likes a surprise. Whether it’s a birthday or anniversary, we like to be surprised. Surprises can be wonderful and they show love from those who love you. In the same light, God gives us surprises every day.

God made a beautiful world for us to live in, and He crammed it full of surprises. There is no way we can see everything on this earth in our lifetime, but it’s wonderful to be surprised by some things each day. If you travel much, you will be amazed at the lakes, mountains, and seasides. God made all of these for us to enjoy.

Spring is a wonderful time to enjoy the surprises. Flowers begin the bloom and trees burst full of leaves. How beautiful to watch these happen. In a lot of places this is an early spring. Bradford pear trees are blooming along the roads and in people’s yards. It is a beautiful gift from God. Trees are beginning to put forth those spring green leaves, and birds are coming back in the area.

What would it be like if God had not given us these beautiful things? I don’t think we would be nearly as happy as we are when we see these signs of nature. We can tell the seasons by the trees and plants. Beauty is everywhere if we look for it. If we want to find it.

Even the desert is beautiful. Where else could you see those cacti standing as a guard for the desert? The plants that grow there with very little water are amazing and beautiful. The little creatures that scurry through the sand can be dangerous, but they are beautiful. God knew where to place those creatures. This is not evolution, it is God’s plan.

Have you ever felt the ocean lap around your feet? It’s a feeling you do not get anywhere as the sand slips away under your feet. The shells that wash up on the shore are amazing. Where else do you find these?

There are places where we can find fossils of footprints of animals who lived long ago. They have been preserved for us to enjoy. They remind us of God’s infinite wisdom in planning and forming the earth.

Each morning we can enjoy these surprises, or blessings. The clouds that float across the sky, the sunrise, the green grass after a rain, and many more things. When we see these, we should remember that God made them for us. They have a purpose.

What are some of your favorite things? Maybe it’s flying through clouds, or looking out of an airplane window and seeing lakes, ponds, and green meadows, or maybe seeing snow from the plane, Maybe you have rounded a curve and seen acres and acres of windmills producing electricity, or seen those windmills on a high mountain turning and turning. Maybe watching the waves and finding a hermit crab. There are so many that we cannot name them all, but God can. He knows you, even to the deepest depth of your soul. That is a surprise that amazes me every day.
