“It’s my live,” you say. “I’ll do what I want.” How many times have we heard teens say that. “You can’t make me do anything.” How disrespectful and rude! Your life is a gift from God. You have control over your actions, but you need to respect God and your parents.
I remember saying those same words when I was a teenager. I also remember the hurt look on my parents’ faces. They were so hurt by my actions. I would do anything I could to reverse those words now.
There is so much in the world to turn you from God. Your peers can encourage you to do things you would never have thought of before. Things you knew better than to do.
What do you want out of life? Maybe a nice house, a nice car, and a good job. That’s well and good, but how will you get it? The best way is to work hard. It’s not easy, but it is best. Have a good reputation. Be someone people will want to be around. You could hurt people as you go up the ladder of success, but it’s not worth it. It’s much better to be honest in all your dealings.
Several years ago people wore a bracelet that had WWJD on it, What Would Jesus Do. Well, it’s still good to use to make a decision. If you are in doubt, think about what Jesus would do. Would He want you to hurt someone in order to gain success?
Today, our presidential election is getting to the point of cutting someone down to gain the nomination. It’s done by people that claim to be good and honest. Is it honest? I don’t think so. No one should try willingly to hurt another person. This is not what God wants us to do.
We cannot manipulate and hurt people and be pleasing to God. John 3:16 tells us to treat others the way we want to be treated. Even hurting your parents by some of your statements about your life is wrong.
So, what do you want your life to be? I pray you will want to be kind, generous, pleasant, and loving. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Be a good example for God, your country, and your family. Watch what you say and do.
