ASK AUNT MARY

Have you ever been to a store and saw the perfect dress? Most of us have and we just have to have it. Do you try it on and look at yourself in the mirror objectively? Can you see your flaws and the flaws of the dress?
There has been a lot written about dress before on this web site, but this is something I want to talk about one more time.
Our shape and what we wear. Do you know what looks good on you? I have a misshaped body and I know what I can and can’t wear. None of us has a perfect shape. Even those skinny models have flaws. You don’t see them because they know how to hide them.
Recently, I went to a wedding. A young couple, probably in their late teens, was walking in front of us. It’s usually windy where we live and you learn to dress accordingly. This young woman had on a nice dress with a full skirt. The dress was short to begin with, but the wind took her skirt and you can imagine the rest.
If you are a larger shape, don’t get things that are gathered around the waist. It only makes you look larger. I know a short skirt makes a larger woman look smaller. That is not always correct. If it is too short, it makes you look dumpy.
Short skirts are popular today, but there are no pretty knees. Cover them up. No one likes to look at knotty knees.
Be cautious of what you wear. Be pleasing to God.
