Have you ever had someone hate you just because you’re a little bit different? In my workplace, I try to make it known to everyone, one way or another, that I am a Christian. It normally becomes apparent fairly early on in the workplace in Australia – as everybody and their dog drinks alcohol on a regular basis. ―Want to come out for a few drinks?‖ after work is a very common invitation, and whether you have friends or not is usually dependant on your answer. I’ve had people tell me that they can’t have fun without a drink on the weekend! (more…)

DIFFERENT, BUT ALIKE

Recently I spent a few days in the hospital, and I became more aware of how each of us is different, but alike. We have different tastes in clothes, books, movies, and other things. If anyone gave me a choice of my favorite thing, it would have to be people watching. That should be a sport.

The nurse who checked me in to the hospital before surgery, and put the IV in my vein was very talky and friendly. We laughed about how hard I was to stick, and how high my blood pressure had risen. I was terrified of the surgery. Before I knew it, I was ready to go to the holding area and be ready for surgery.  (more…)
